concerned parents protest gta san andreas hidden sex scenes

okay, i'm sure you've heard about this by now. grand theft auto:san andreas is a pretty rough game. it's clearly not for most kids ('specially not the younger ones) and thus, if rockstar wants to put a little grown-up easter egg in the game, it's their business. it shouldn't be a problem, 'cause parents shouldn't let their kids have this game in the first place, and adults who don't wanna see this kind of thing just don't have to buy it. damn.

and even if the dood who made the patch isn't telling the truth and it does add content, not simply unlock or alter the existing game data (which i doubt) i still don't see the problem--if you don't like it, don't buy it. if you don't want your kids to play it, don't let them.

i'm gonna stop this short or else i'll get fired up. please, lemme know what you think...

I think that this whole situation is retarded.

For one, the game is already rated M, and thus clearly not for anyone under the age of 17. The issue though is that it wasn't rated AO - for those of the age of 18 and above.

Whats the distinction between that one year? Mainly porn laws. Porn is supposed to be for those over the age of 18 in most places, not 17. Thus by presenting it in a game rated for 17 year olds, you present porn to minors.

Anyways, thats what the issue is about. Do I think Rockstar is guilty? Hell no. Yes, I believe they left the content in their game, but that is irrelevant, because there's no way to humanly access it out of the box. You have to install a program from a third party that modifies the game, and unlocks those components.

As such, Rockstar should not be held liable for the actions of third parties. That would be like holding Maxis/EA liable for the Sims, because someone came out with a Sims Nude Patch that removes the blur nudity filter.

That this is even under scrutiny displays the ignorance of the media.
